Layers of the rainforest

Emergents

The trees get lots of sunlight.  The tallest trees of the rainforest are in the emergent layer.  Some trees grow 200 feet tall.

Canopy

The trees get sunlight and are also tall here.  Lots of fruits and flowers grow here.  This is the main layer of the rainforest.

Understory

This layer of the rainforest does not get much light.  The canopy layer blocks the sunlight.  Plants grow up to 12 feet high.

Forest Floor

Almost no sun reaches this layer.  It is very wet and warm in this layer.  Things rot quickly here.
