Animal's Body: size, color, type of covering and special body parts.Brown bear have a large body. Adults are 3 1/2 feet tall, and 6 to 7 feet long. Adult females weigh from 270 to 770. Males weigh from 330 to 1150 pounds. Even though they called brown bears, they can be white, blonde, brown or black. Brown bears are covered with a heavy shaggy fur. They have a big head and a short tail. Brown bears have a large shoulder hump made of muscle. They use the muscle to dig. Brown bear have long and curved claws. The claws are used to dig up roots and bulbs of plants and dig their dens.

They live in forests, open meadows, and large river valleys. These habitats are where they can find food, shelter, and protect their young. Bears like to rest or sleep in hollow logs, piles of brush, and caves. |

Animals Living Habits: eating, sleeping and moving.Brown bears eat berries, grass, and nuts. They also eat small animals and fish.Bears hibernate in the winter. This means they dig a den or hole, and then sleep all winter long. Bears use their 4 strong muscular legs to walk and run.
