Foxes
Animal's Body: size, color, type of covering and special body parts.

There are many types of foxes. Most are 3 to 4 feet long. They weigh 7 to 13 pounds.

Most foxes are gray or red. They have a black streak along their backs.

Foxes have fur. In the winter their fur coat becomes thicker to help insulate them from the cold weather.

Foxes have long bodies and short legs. They have long pointy noses and big bushy tails.

Foxes have large pointed ears. They hear sounds very well. It can hear small animals digging underground and will frequently dig in the dirt or snow to catch prey.

Foxes are found all across the world.

Foxes like to live in open forests, but you may also see them in cities.

Female foxes make homes called dens in hollow logs, under boulders or in a hole in the ground called a burrow. They may also find an abandoned rabbit or other small animal's den instead of making its own den.

 

Animals Living Habits: eating, sleeping and moving.

Foxes eat small mammals such as rats, mice. They will also eat , insects, fruits, birds, and eggs. Foxes are usually nocturnal. They hunt at night.

Foxes usually will sleep in the open, wrapping its bushy tail around its nose to stay warm. They will sometimes sleep in a den.

The fox stalks its prey, much like a cat. It gets as close as it can and then pounces and chases its prey.
