Jaguars are found in South America and Central America. Jaguars prefer to live in tropical forests and swamps. They also live near lakes and river valleys because they can drink fresh water. The home of the jaguar are places where it can hunt, drink water, swim and mate.

Jaguars will catch and eat almost anything! They eat monkeys, deer, birds, turtles, snakes and iguanas. Jaguars may also eat plants and fruits. Very little is known about the sleeping habits of jaguars. We do know they prefer to sleep during the day. Jaguars are most active around dawn and dusk. Jaguars move on land like many other cats. They walk slowly, making sure other animals can't see them. When they see prey they slow down and stalk it. When they think they can catch the prey, they run quckly after it and bite it. In the water, Jaguars are powerful swimmers, They spend a lot of time in the water.
