Animals Living Habits: eating, sleeping and moving.Lions eat other animals. They sneak up to their prey and them run and leap on them. They eat zebras, antelopes, giraffes, and warthogs. Female lions usually hunt at night or dawn. Lions hunt in packs called prides. Females do the pride's hunting because they are lighter, more agile and faster than males. Lions spend 20 hours a day sleeping and resting. When resting, lions in the pride spend most of that time touching, head rubbing, licking and purring. Lions are not lazy, they have avoid the heat of the day. They also have to get energy for hunting the next day. Lions can run at speeds up to 35 miles per hour. But they can not run long distances at that speed. They usually found walking when they are not sleeping.
