An adult rabbit is about 15 to 18 inches long. It weighs from two to six pounds. Rabbits can be gray to reddish-brown. Their fur is thick, long and soft. Rabbits have long ears, long hind legs and a short white tail. Their front feet and hind feet have strong claws for traction when they run. The bottoms of their feet are covered with long, brush-like hairs that help to cushion and help grip when moving on hard ground. In areas where it snows in winter, rabbits have wider feet which allows them to run on top of the snow.
