Description:

Mantises have 6 legs.

Their body has 3 parts.

Mantises have wings.

The mantis' life cycle has 3 stages:

Stage 1: Eggs
Stage 2: Nymph
Stage 3: Adult


Defense:

The mantis' coloring helps them hide from predators.


Diet:

Mantises eat other insects. They think second graders are tasty too.


Habitat:

Mantises live in forests, meadows and wetlands.


Cool facts:

  • Mantises look peaceful, but can attack other insects.
  • One egg case can have 400 eggs in them!
  • They are close relatives of grasshoppers.
