Bald eagles can be found in every state except Hawaii.

 


 

What does it symbolize or represent?

The bald eagle symbolizes goodness and strength.

 


 

Facts about this symbol:

1.   The bald eagle is the United State's national symbol.

2.   The government uses this symbol on coins and official papers.

3.   Our country's first leaders took 6 years to pick the eagle. They could not agree.

4.   Benjamin Franklin wanted to pick a turkey. He thought turkeys had courage. Other leaders thought the turkey was not very impressive.

5.   The bald eagle was chosen because it can only be found in North America.

Did you know?

Bald eagles were nearly extinct about 100 years ago. The government made laws to protect them. They forbid capturing or killing them.

Bald eagles are not bald. Bald in other languages means white.
