Neil Armstrong was born on August 5, 1930, in Wapakoneta, Ohio.

He is still alive.

Accomplishments
 

Neil Armstrong is famous because he was an astronaut and was the first person to walk on the moon.

Young Life and Family
 

Neil could fly an airplane before he even thought about learning to drive a car. He always loved to fly.

In college he received a Bachelor of Science degree in aeronautical engineering at Purdue University and a Master in Science degree from the University of Southern California. He knew that he wanted to be in the sky.

Adult Life
 

Armstrong became a astronaut with NASA.

On July 20, 1969 Neil walked on the moon. He was the first person to walk on the moon. Millions of people watched on their TV's. He said "That's one small step for man, and one giant leap for mankind." Neil became the greatest hero in space exploration.
