Charles became a pilot. He did stunts in the air. In 1919 he heard about a $25,000 prize for someone who could fly from New York to Paris without stopping. Most people had died trying to do this. Charles thought that he could do it. In 1927 he had his plane ready to go. He took off at 7:52 am. He got to Paris in 33 1/2 hours. Lindbergh was in World War II. He was given a German medal and he accepted it. Many Americans thought that he was a traitor. Charles spent the rest of his life flying and writing books. He died of cancer. |
