Bill Clinton was born William Jefferson Blythe, Jr. He was named for his
father. His father died in an car accident before Bill was born.
When he was 4, Bill's mother married Roger Clinton. Roger was a car salesman. The family moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas. Bill later adopted his step-father's last name. Bill attended school in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was an honors student, played the saxophone, and was popular with his classmates. After high school Bill went to Georgetown University. Then he went to Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar. After that he went to Yale Law School where he met his wife Hillary.

At age 32, Bill Clinton was elected the governor of Arkansas. He was the youngest governor in history the state. Clinton was elected the 42nd president of the United States. He served two terms. He was the first democratic president to serve for two terms since president Franklin Roosevelt. He served from 1991 to 1999. |
