Woody Guthrie

Woody Guthrie was born in Okemah, Oklahoma in 1912.

He died in Queens, New York in 1967.

Accomplishments
 

Woody Guthrie was famous because he was a folk and blues singer and composer.

Young Life and Family
 

Woody was made fun of at school because of his size. He was small for his age. He would play the harmonica outside in the school yard for entertainment.

He moved away from home at age sixteen.

Adult Life
 

When he left home he worked at a drugstore. His boss had a guitar that Woody played. People gave him ideas for songs.

He played on the radio and at political meetings.

He composed songs such as "This Land is Your Land", "I Ain't got no Home", and "The World is not my Home."

He died at age fifty-five.
