Martha Washington was born in New Kent County, Virginia on June 2, 1731.

She died May 22, 1802 at Mount Vernon, Virginia.

Accomplishments
 

She is famous because she was married to George Washington.

Young Life and Family
 

Martha grew up on a plantation in Virginia. She was the oldest of nine children.

She received a good education. Most girls back then did not.

Adult Life
  Martha first married Daniel Curtis. He died eight years after they got married.

She married a second time. This time to George Washington.

Martha helped Washington during the Revolutionary War. People called her "Lady Washington" when Washington became president.

She died at age 70 in 1802.
