Theodore Roosevelt was born on October 27, 1858 in New York City, New York.

He died on January 6, 1919 in Oyster Bay, New York.

Accomplishments
 

Theodore Roosevelt is famous because he was the 26th president of the United States.

Young Life and Family
 

Theodore was born into a wealthy family. He was schooled at home, and so he did not go to an elementary school.

He was sick as a child and had asthma.

Roosevelt went to Harvard University. His father told him to exercise to feel better, and so started boxing as a college student.

Adult Life
 

Theodore did many things as an adult. He lived in the western United States and became a cowboy. He fought in the Spanish-American War. He was governor of New York.

He was elected president in 1900. He served two four year terms from 1901 to 1909.

A sad fact is that in 1884 his mother and wife died on the same day.

He died at age 60.
