Clouds

What are clouds?
Clouds are drops of water or ice high in the sky.

What causes clouds?

The sun heats up the water in lakes, rivers and oceans. The water turns into vapor which is a gas. The water vapor rises high into the sky. It cools off and forms clouds.

What types of clouds are there?
There are 3 main types of clouds: cirrus, cumulus and stratus.

Cirrus are light and feathery.

They are high in the sky.

Cumulus are puffy.

They are low in the sky.

Stratus are like fog.

They are low in the sky.
