Snow

Snow
What is snow?

Snow is small crystals of ice that fall from the sky.

What causes snow?

Small bits of dirt get carried up into the sky. Crystals of ice form around the dirt. The crystals stick to one another to make snow flakes.

What types of snowflakes are there?

There are 5 types of snowflakes: thin plates, needles, hollow columns, sector plates and dendrites.

Cool Facts:

Most snowflakes have six sides.

Most snowflakes are less than one-half inch across.

Snow is white. This is because snow reflects sunlight, which is white, into your eyes.
