Wind

What is wind?
Wind is the air moving.

What causes wind?

Wind is caused when the air changes temperature. When the air heats up, or cools down, it creates wind.

Wind can also be caused by water in the air and the earth's spinning.

What types of winds are there?

There are two types of winds: sea breezes and land breezes.

  • Sea breezes are caused by the sea cooling down.

  • Land breezes are caused by the land cooling down.

Cool Facts:

You can't see the wind, but you can feel it.

When there is no wind, it is called a "doldrum."

Winds are named for the direction from which they come from, not the direction they flow to.

The winds from the west causes most of the weather changes in the USA.
