District Recognized for energy efficiency efforts! ![]() Throughout the past year, the St. Louis Park School District and the Schools for Energy Efficiency (SEE) program have worked together to improve energy efficiency in our schools. By changing simple behaviors and making no or low cost improvements in our building operations, our district has reduced its energy use by 11% and avoided costs of over $243,832! This success has not gone unnoticed! The district has earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ENERGY STAR® Leader Award for improving their efficiency rating by 10 points district wide. This rating system is designed to measure the overall energy efficiency per square foot of schools and businesses nationwide.
At the time we received this honor, only 25 other school districts in the United States and only 6 in Minnesota had achieved this ENERGY STAR Leader award. Having an individual school that achieves top energy performance is a sign of good management, but having a district of buildings that show improvement in energy performance demonstrates superior management and environmental leadership.
