Policies and Procedures

All staff members should be familiar with the following information:

Child Abuse Reporting
Minnesota law requires all licensed personnel to report suspected child abuse or neglect within 24 hours to the police or to the Hennepin County Child Protection Agency. If you suspect child abuse or neglect, please contact the Police Liaison Officer at the Senior High School, 952-928-6111.

Although you are required to make a report, you may remain anonymous and are protected from civil lawsuits. Failure to report is a criminal offense. For more details, see District Policy JHG in your building office.

Drug-free Workplace
The possession, use or sale of alcohol or illegal drugs is prohibited on all district property and at district-sponsored activities. If you are under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs while performing your duties or on district property, you are subject to disciplinary action. For more details, see District Policy GBEBA in your building office.

Name Badges
The district asks that you wear your name badge at all times when you are on the job, supervising students or at a district function. This provides better customer service, assists in security efforts and helps new staff get to know people. Paper name tags are provided for visitors. Please offer assistance and direction to anyone in our buildings.

Sexual, Racial and Religious Harassment/Violence
Sexual, racial and religious harassment/violence involving students or adults is strictly prohibited by district policy and state law. Report all incidents or alleged harassment immediately to the building principal or your supervisor so that proper action can be taken by the district. All reports will be investigated promptly and disciplinary action will be taken when appropriate. If you are uncomfortable talking to your principal/supervisor, please contact the human resources director at 952-928-6067. For more details, see District Policy GBHA by contacting Human Resources.

Shared Positions
The Board recognizes that in some instances it may be to the advantage of the district and the classroom teaching staff to provide the option of sharing a full time teaching position.

The District will normally consider applications for sharing of a position only from teachers who have at least two or more years of successful experience within the district.

If authorized by the district, the position sharing opportunity must be financially neutral for the district.

The administrative procedures attached hereto identify the conditions under which shared positions will occur and special expectations of those sharing a position.

Tobacco
St. Louis Park is a tobacco-free school district. Students, staff and the public are prohibited from using tobacco, in any form, in district buildings, on the grounds, in district-owned vehicles or at district approved activities.
