It is the purpose of Peter Hobart Primary Center to challenge each child academically while supporting her/ his social, physical and emotional development as a foundation for life.
We are committed to providing:
-strong reading, writing, and math instruction
-inquiry-based learning
-a comprehensive curriculum*
-a safe, caring, and respectful environment
-a sense of community
We acknowledge the developmental needs of primary age children and embrace:
-learning through play
-regular physical activity
-cooperative as well as individual learning experiences
-strong student-teacher relationships and classroom communities
We believe learning is the responsibility of our students. Children learn best when:
-parents are involved at home and in school
-teachers, students and parents work in partnership
-teachers collaborate to improve instruction
-teachers are continually learning and bringing that learning to their colleagues and classrooms
*A comprehensive curriculum includes math, language arts, social studies, science, music, art, health, physical education, technology, and world language. |
