Site Council Update

Noticias de la Escuela – November 2003

This month Site Council (SC) continues detailed work on Strategic Site Planning identifying site based critical issues in terms of goal-setting, areas of improvement and succession.

SC is also in the process of establishing an Overnight Field Trip Decision. Our guides for this process are the school Mission Statement, curriculum goals and district alignment to create the most successful setting for a team-building experience.

We are looking at the possibility of implementing a School Patrol Program to help control parking lot safety and usage. This is a community service offered free of charge through the Automobile Association of America.

SC has organized Action Groups in the following areas for ongoing updates and work throughout the year: SC Bylaw Revision, Building Security / Space Requirements, Enrollment, and Immersion Support.
SC wishes to congratulate two PSI parents, Julie Sweitzer and Nancy Gores, as newly elected SLP School Board members. We feel certain they will serve the school district and community with all fairness and always place ‘children first.’ Both have served PSI as past SC Chairs and have offered superior leadership. Thank you to those who voted.

District policy prevents school board members from serving on school site councils. So at this point Nancy will be stepping down from her position on SC and her seat will be filled through a recommendation process.

SC meetings are held monthly, typically on the 3rd Thursday from 4-6pm in the Media Center. Its members are made up of elected parents and school principal as well as staff representation from each grade level. If you have site based issues or concerns, please contact myself or any of its members so they may be presented and reviewed during our next meeting.
