Park Spanish Immersion School
Site Council
Frequently Asked Questions

What is Site Council?
PSI’s Site Council is a group that advises and works as a liaison between the school, the school board, and the community in the areas of immersion / staff student support, facility and security needs, and public relations.

How does Site Council service the students and the school?
All our work is based on student achievement, curriculum goals, the PSI mission statement, and the direct needs of the site and the school principal.

Who can be on Site Council?
Any parent with a child currently enrolled at Park Spanish Immersion School is eligible to be elected onto the Site Council (SC).

How can I become a Site Council member?
Parents who are interested in becoming involved in this group are asked to complete a self-nominating form in April. Ballots are then created and sent home in backpacks. One vote per household is counted. Elections are held in May and newly elected members are invited to sit in on the last meeting of the school year before commencing their term of membership.

How long is a term of membership?
The full term of a SC member is two years. Parents are eligible to run for membership as many times as they choose to.

What is the time commitment like?
SC formally meets once a month. In addition, some task or committee work may take place outside of that time or through emailing.

Why should I get involved?
Serving on Site Council is a rewarding group to work with and it gives you a chance to get involved with the school and your child’s education in a very personal way. The members share common goals and are excited about immersion and eager to work together towards those goals. Friendships made within this group can be longstanding.

What are some of the most recent Site Council projects?
