Why?              

PSI Leer-A-Tón supports the Amity Scholar Program and dedicates a period of time to the development of reading as a fundamental life-skill for students.

The Leer-A-Tόn is one of 2 fundraisers led by the PTO each year to support the Amity Scholar Program. The amities make it possible to keep a strong curriculum, provide for small group learning and bring culture and native language to our children.

When?             October 17 – November 5, 2007 

Who?              

The students do all the work by reading and seeking donations for minutes read. This year awards will be given by class for the most minutes read and most funds raised, so teamwork is essential!

What?             

Students read anytime, anywhere and log all the minutes. Reading includes:  Books on tape; minutes read during the school day; reading on the bus, in the car, at home; reading for homework; reading as a family, story times.

 Reading Goal:            

700 minutes total per student (35 minutes per day) means over 380,000 minutes for the entire school!! 

Fundraising Goal:        $20,000

700 minutes of reading per student + donations  = Amities for PSI!
