Copyright and Fair Use for School Projects

Introduction:

It is important to be sure that when we use the internet to learn we are not breaking copyright rules.

Copyright rules are important because they protect the people who write and create exciting things on the internet.

Because students use the internet in school for learning projects there are special rules for us. These rules make it easier for us to create exciting presentations and writing projects.

BUT........

we need to remember these important things:

• We cannot sell our projects if they have pictures or art from an author and we have not asked permission.
• We need to tell as well as we can where the information or picture came from.
• We can't use TOO MUCH of one artist's, illustrator's or author's work.
• We need to use our own words to describe what we learned.
