PowerSchool Teacher is the web connection to

grades/progress that can be easily accessed.

in relation to other data.

individual student to mark at the same time without moving paper around.

work from home will automatically be recorded and sent to the district PowerSchool
Server as soon as you click on submit. REMEMBER! To avoid losing your work,
It is critical that you SUBMIT your work frequently,
whether you work at home or at school!
Is there anything special
I need to know about working from home?
NO! You should be able to work
easily from home as long as you have a computer and internet access. Use Safari
if you are using a Macintosh computer. If you are using a PC, Internet Explorer
will work well. FIREFOX is NOT recommended for PowerSchool use.

How do I actually
mark the report card
Go to http:ps.slpschools.org/teachers
and log in.
- Click on the backpack symbol in the course that you wish
to mark. You will need to go to all courses that you teach to mark the outcomes.
A special reminder! Social Skills and work habits are found
in AMA attendance. DON"T FORGET to mark these. PM Kindergarten will mark
Social Skills and Work Habits in PM attendance.

-
Click on the last name of the student you
wish to mark. Pull down the "Select Screen" bar and choose "Final
Grade Entry (Standards)."
-
Mark the student appropriately by using the
pull-down menu to the select the mark. Be sure that you click on the SUBMIT
button to actually record the grade.
-
IMPORTANT! If you click on the first
name of the next student you wish to grade the program will stay
on the FINAL GRADE SCREEN. This is a real time saver.
- The information you need to mark the report cards or see
district approved comments is available on the REPORT
CARD MARKING DOCUMENTATION WEBSITE..There is a link for this on the final
grade entry screen for every student. Click the navigation button on the left
of this screen to access this information.
-
You may choose to mark your whole class at
one time rather than student by student. To mark this way, move to the very
bottom of the list of students and click on the little m in parenthesis
next to the words "Standards Summary." The list of students in
the course, with all report card indicators, will then appear. You may mark
students using the pull-down menu. Codes for each indicator are found on
the REPORT CARD MARKING DOCUMENTATION WEBSITE.

It is critical that you submit often!!!! PowerSchool will log you out
if you have not submitted in about 30 minutes. If you click on the
words "Standards Summary" (not the little m), you will be able to
check to see that you have completely marked all students in the course. This
is a good way to proof your markings.

How
do I print report cards when I finish marking them?
Each building must develop
a plan for printing report cards. You should be informed of your building's
procedures during your training session. Be sure to abide by your building plan.
Regardless of the plan
for printing...you SHOULD preview the report cards to be sure they are marked
completely. Be sure that you have communicated with the other teachers who have
responsibility for marking your students. (PE, MUSIC and MEDIA staff should
let classroom teachers know when they have completed marking)
Follow these steps to do
the preview (and to print if that is the plan for your building).
TO PREVIEW OR PRINT A
REPORT FOR AN INDIVIDUAL STUDENT (one student at a time)
- Choose the student and any course that student
is enrolled in. Follow steps 1-3 in the marking portion of this tutorial,
but choose PRINT A REPORT from the pull down menu.
-
Select the appropriate Report
Card Template for your grade level or program. Submit.
- When you submit a screen will appear letting
you know that your report is running. Don't worry; this is just providing
you with a document to preview on the screen. You will decide when to actually
print to a printer.

- After you click on the completed button a
PDF file will be downloaded to your computer. You should view this document
to proof before you print it.
To print YOUR WHOLE CLASS at once
(AFTER YOU HAVE PROOFED the reports )
- Go to the start screen of PowerSchool Teacher
and Select REPORTS. Choose the appropriate report card template and submit.
Notice that on this screen you are choosing to print ALL of the students in
your class.

- The rest of the printing procedure is the
same.
- This process take a good deal longer
than a single student (obvious, but worth thinking about).
- You will be downloading a pdf file for
each student and need to send those to the printer. (Again, timing is
an issue to think about.)

Some Helpful Hints
(Check back often. We will add time savers as users let us know their tricks.)
- Once you have navigated to your grade level Report Card Marking
site....make a bookmark or tab for easy browsing.
- Use the Standards Summary (m) screen to be sure you have
marked all of the students. You can change any marks at this time.
- The advantage of printing your whole class at once is that
you will have 1 large PDF file. This file can be saved in your documents folder.
In this way you have an easily accessed document to refer to.
- COMMENTS....comments appear in the bottom row of each subject
area. The comments need to be short. (65 chararacters including spaces) to
fit on the line.
