School Registration Procedures

Welcome to New Residents!

If you are new residents of St. Louis Park, we can't wait to meet you! St. Louis Park Public schools has a long and successful history we are proud to share. If you have moved to our community and your oldest child is not yet in school, please e-mail our census office stanley.lynda@slpschools.org or call 952-928-6023. This will assure that you are on the district census so that we can notify you about early childhood screenings and kindergarten registration at the appropriate time.

Registering For School
Students who move into the St. Louis Park school district during the school year should register as soon as possible at their designated school. St. Louis Park has two sets of paired elementary schools. Aquila Primary Center (kindergarten to 3rd grade) and Cedar Manor Intermediate Center (3rd to 6th grade), serve students on the west side of St. Louis Park.

Peter Hobart Primary Center (Kindergarten to 3rd grade) and Susan Lindgren Intermediate Center (4th to 6th grade), serve the students on the east side. Click here to for a map of school boundaries.

If you need to verify which school(s) your child(ren) would attend, e-mail stanley.lynda@slpschools.org or call 952-928-6023 with the address.

A fifth elementary school, Park Spanish Immersion Schools, draws students in grades kindergarten through 6th grade across the district.

All students in the district in 7th and 8th grade attend St. Louis Park Junior High.

St. Louis Park Senior High includes grades 9-12.

Please contact the appropriate school(s) for an appointment to register.

During the summer, students in Kindergarten to 6th grade can register their child(ren) at the District Offices. The offices are located at the senior high, 6425 West 33rd Street. Please call 952-928-6000 for directions. Junior High students need to call 952-928-6395 to set up an appointment. Senior High students need to call the counselor's office at 952-928-6120.

When registering, bring a current copy of the student's immunization record and proof of residency (this may be a utility bill or a purchase or rental agreement.) Secondary students will need to bring a copy of their current transcript.

These three items are required by the state of Minnesota before your child can enter kindergarten:
Your child's birth certificate: Birth certificates can be obtained from any Hennepin County Service Center (the closest is Ridgedale, 12601 Ridgedale Drive, Minnetonka), 612/348-8240. The fee is $14.00.

Free Early Childhood Screening: If your child has not yet been screened, call Meg McFarlane or Melissa Hanna at 952/928-6726 to schedule an appointment.

Up to date immunizations: You will be asked to provide a record of your child's shots at Kindergarten Roundup. All children entering kindergarten must have a varicella (chickenpox) vaccine (or a history of having chickenpox) and a second dose of vaccine for measles, mumps and rubella. Free health checkups and immunizations are available at Central Clinic located in our Central Community Center. The Clinic is open Tuesdays and Wednesdays 1-4:30 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome. You can also make an appointment by calling 952/993-1100. If your child should not have immunizations for medical reasons or because of the conscientiously held beliefs of the parents, the school must have written proof of exemption.

Early Childhood Screening
This is an evaluation which checks the health and development of your child so concerns may be addressed early. This enables your child to be ready to be a better learner in kindergarten. It is a free service for children ages 3 1/2 - 5 years old and is required for entrance into kindergarten. Screening is held September to early May at Central Community Center.
