The high school Media Center houses 28,000 fiction, non-fiction, reference and career books. In addition The New York Times, Star Tribune and the St. Louis Park Sun Sailor are available daily as well as popular magazines for leisure reading and check out. For reseach the Media Center subscribes to online databases, indexes and encyclopedias as well as the Electronic Library Minnesota (ELM) provided by state funding. The Center also has an iMac lab of 30 computer stations and four stand-up stations for the electronic book catalog. Two wireless iBook carts serve as a supplemental lab in the Media Center or building classrooms. LCD projectors, DVD player, copy machine, color and black and white printers, digital camera and student project materials are housed in the Media Center for student and staff use.
The Media Center is open every day school is in session from 7:30-3:30
The Media Center enforces the Acceptable Use of Technology policy as established by the school district. Students who do not follow the policy are denied computer access unless accompanied by an adult.
Books check out from the Media Center for three weeks. Students will be sent overdue notices when books are not retuned on time. At the end of each semester notices are sent home to parents and report cards are held until books are returned or payment is made for lost books. Students may not check out additional books if they already have overdue items.
