Mission of the St. Louis Park School District
As a caring, diverse community with a tradition of putting its children first, we will ensure that all students attain the highest level of achievement and become contributing members of society, and we will offer everyone high quality opportunities for lifelong learning, by providing multiple pathways to excellence and challenging each learner to meet high standards, within a safe environment.
Objectives
Every child will enter kindergarten with the readiness skills necessary to be successful in school.
Each student will annually set, pursue and review challenging educational goals that stretch him/her to the limits of his/her capabilities.
100% of our students will meet or exceed district standards in the core curriculum at grades 3, 5, 8 and 10/11.
100% of our students will graduate.
Each student will demonstrate appropriate annual progress in language arts and mathematics.
Beliefs
We believe that everyone has equal intrinsic worth.
We believe that positive family experience is critically important to the healthy development of each individual.
We believe that high expectations challenge everyone to higher levels of achievement.
We believe that it takes persistent effort for anyone to achieve maximum potential.
We believe that lifelong learning is essential to the individual's quality of life and the vitality of the community.
We believe that everyone has the capacity and responsibility to contribute to the well-being of others.
We believe that respect of self and others is fundamental for a strong, healthy community.
We believe that high quality education creates opportunities throughout an individual's life.
We believe that understanding individual differences enriches a community.
We believe that hopes and dreams inspire and motivate people to invest in themselves and their community.
Parameters (the established guidelines within which the district will accomplish its mission)
We will always operate safe environments conducive to learning.
We will practice shared decision-making at each level of the organization.
Site-based decisions will always be consistent with the strategic plan.
No new program or service will be accepted unless it is consistent with the strategic plan, benefits justify costs, and provisions are made for staff development and program evaluation.
No existing program or service will be retained unless benefits justify cost and it contributes to optimal progress toward our mission.
We will always operate on the principles of Children First, the community-wide partnership to strengthen families and create a more caring community for children and youth.
We will not tolerate behavior which demeans the self worth or dignity of any individual or group.
Student performance on standardized tests will always remain competitive with neighboring suburban districts.
Priority will be given to PreK-12 instructional programs.
We will not tolerate ineffective employee performance.
We will use technology as a tool to help us achieve our strategic objectives.

Strategy 1:
We will use assessment data and differentiate instruction to help students achieve our strategic objectives.
Strategy 2:
We will market the many unique qualities of our district in order to expand enrollment and strengthen community involvement and support.
Strategy 3:
We will develop and implement plans to expand the revenue necessary to achieve our mission and objectives.
Strategy 4:
We will develop and implement a district model for student goal setting appropriate for each level.
Strategy 5:
We will work in partnership with our community to ensure that all children enter kindergarten with readiness skills necessary to be successful in school.
