As Park Spanish Immersion School moves to the Cedar Manor School Site in the Fall of 2019 and research continues to show the connection between student academic achievement and sleep, St. Louis Park Public Schools is currently studying start times across the district. Stakeholders are invited to give input regarding school start and end times during the month of January. Read more to learn about upcoming public input opportunities.
Attention Parents and Guardians of 5th Graders. As we plan for the upcoming school year, we look forward to having your family be a part of the St. Louis Park Middle School learning community. Registration for the 2019-2020 school year is about to begin and it is time for you and your child to discuss and carefully plan for the educational opportunities available at St. Louis Park Middle School. An informational meeting for parents/guardians will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23 at the Middle School.
Twenty-nine Middle School students in grades 6-8 were invited to participate in the 2018-19 Middle School Spelling Bee on November 12. Eighth grader Amira Abdirahman won first place and will represent the Middle School at the Metro Area Spelling Bee in March. Sixth grader Arun Ferran-Sapatnekar was the runner-up.
St. Louis Park Middle School will be offering tours and informational sessions beginning in November and running through the Spring. These tours are especially helpful to families with an incoming sixth grader for the 2019-20 school year, or families who are new to St. Louis Park.
Flying Lessons and Other Stories has been selected by the Middle School for its first all-campus book study and reflection this year. In this book, edited by Ellen Oh, 10 celebrated authors create short stories for kids in a variety of genres and reflecting a variety of perspectives.
The Middle School facilities improvements took another step forward recently as the District hosted a neighborhood meeting on Thursday, September 13, as part of the conditional use permit (CUP) process, required by the City of St. Louis Park. Construction on several of these projects will begin in late May of 2019.
