As a graduate of St Louis Park High School, Barb Nelson enjoys being a part of the community where she grew up. She completed an undergraduate BAS degree in Family Life Education, with a minor in Psychology at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Kelsey enjoys being a part of the St. Louis Park community by working at the High School. She grew up in the area and graduated college from DePauw University located in Greencastle, IN with a degree in Communications. She earned her Master’s degree in School Counseling from Minnesota State University Mankato and is currently working on an Ed. D degree from St. Cloud State University. Kelsey loves to do yoga and go on walks. She is originally from Blaine, MN and now resides in Bloomington with her husband John, daughter Amelia, and two cats Pepper and Sabre. She completed her undergraduate degree at Gustavus Adolphus College with a double major in Psychology and Criminal Justice, and a minor in Sociology; sidenote - she regrets not taking her Intro to Music Performance class as this would have allowed her to obtain a Music minor, she loves piano and wind ensemble groups, but is scared to sing. She then earned her Master’s degree in Counseling and Counselor Education at Indiana University (GO HOOSIERS!) In her spare time, she loves to have girl-time with her daughter and watch The Voice, and play games (Monopoly Jr, Clue, Uno). She attended UW-Madison for her undergraduate studies in Sociology and is a Badger fan to this day! Upon graduation, Laura went to UW-Stout for her graduate work in School Counseling. Laura has worked at schools in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Denver, Colorado and St. Louis Park, Minnesota. She enjoys traveling, spending time with family and getting out in nature. Minneapolis has been home to Laura for the past 12 years.

Marlee obtained her BA in Psychology and went on to pursue a master’s degree in social work (MSW), which she completed in 2000. She is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) and holds her clinical license through the Minnesota Board of Social Work and holds her school social work license through the Minnesota Board of Education. Marlee has over twenty years of experience in working in the mental health field with adolescents, and the majority of that time has been spent working as a social worker at St. Louis Park High School. Marlee is passionate in her advocacy for students’ mental health needs and connecting students with the community and mental health resources they need to thrive emotionally, socially and academically. Marlee has a passion for facilitating student support groups, utilizing restorative practices with a strong commitment to racial equity and utilizing a trauma informed approach in her assessment and referral process. Marlee is also an SLP graduate; she resides in Minnetonka with her spouse and two daughters.

Lauren has been employed at the high school for the past 16 years in various roles including a special education social worker, Director of Students, and now as a social worker serving 10th and 12th grade students. She obtained her BA at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and her MA at Ohio State University. She is a Licensed Independent Social Worker and a Licensed School Social Worker through the Minnesota Board of Education. She worked many years in traditional clinical settings prior to her employment for St Louis Park Schools. Lauren has a passion for serving all students, but particularly those who are historically underserved. She seeks to support students through advocacy, accessing resources, promoting restorative practices, facilitating groups, and meeting with students individually. Kelly enjoys the opportunity to live and work in St. Louis Park. She taught English at the high school for 14 years before becoming the Building Assets, Reducing Risks (BARR) coordinator two years ago. Kelly attended the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and earned a B.S. in Secondary English Education and English as a Second Language. She went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Minnesota. She enjoys spending time with her kids, running, and coaching the SLP cross country team!
