Behind the Wheel Instructions

  • Driver’s Education has two instructional components: classroom and behind-the-wheel (BTW). At the end of the classroom portion, each student is assigned a BTW instructor. It is the responsibility of the student to contact the instructor to set up their 3 lessons. Lessons are two hours each. You cannot get your license unless these lessons are completed.
    1. Once you have your permit, call your assigned instructor right away to start lessons. Do not wait!
    2. Lessons can be scheduled after school, on weekends or during school breaks.
    3. The best time to call your instructor is in the early evening before 9 pm.
    4. Most lessons will start and end at school.
    5. There will be a one-time fuel surcharge. You will give this to your instructor along with any balance that you owe. Payment is due at the first lesson. Cash, money order or check (made out to Driver Education, Inc).
    6. You must have your permit with you for all lessons.
    7. If you have to cancel a lesson, call the instructor at least 24 hours ahead of time.
    8. If you do not show for a scheduled lesson, you will be charged $25/hour missed. Training cannot continue until the fine is paid and your permit can be revoked!
