School Board

All stakeholders are invited to attend St. Louis Park School Board Listening Sessions to ask questions and have a conversation with school board members. Up to three school board members will attend to listen to stakeholders. It is not an official meeting and no official action will be taken. Please be aware that the school board members will end the listening session 30 minutes after the posted start time if there are no stakeholders in attendance.

If you are unable to attend a School Board meeting in-person, meetings are livestreamed and archived on the District's YouTube Channel.

To support open communication, the St. Louis Park School District provides an opportunity for the public to address the School Board during business meetings. These meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of each month. Public input is welcomed through the Public Comment section.

1. Sign-Up Procedure
   Complete the Public Comment Sign-Up Form before the meeting begins. A paper form will be available up until the start of the meeting, or you can sign up online using the link provided below.
    

2. Speaking Protocol
   The Board Chair will call on individuals who have signed up to speak. When invited, approach the microphone, state your name, address, and the topic of your comment. Direct all remarks to the Board as a whole, rather than to individual members or others not on the Board.
    

3. Privacy Consideration
   For privacy reasons, please avoid mentioning the names of staff members or students in your comments.
    

4. Group Representation
   If several people wish to speak on the same topic, please designate a spokesperson to present a summary of the issue as a consideration to others.
    

5. Time Limit
   Comments are limited to three (3) minutes. The Board Chair may grant additional time at their discretion. If you have written comments, please provide a copy to help the Board better understand and address your concern.
    

6. Response Protocol
   During Public Comment, the Board and Administration will listen to your remarks but typically will not respond immediately due to meeting structure. Your feedback is important and will be considered. Board members or the Superintendent may follow up after the meeting with questions to gain a deeper understanding of your concern.
    

7. Additional Engagement Opportunities
   The District offers several other ways to provide input and engage with the community, including attending Principal Coffees, participating in PTO meetings, and other forums. We encourage you to take advantage of these opportunities to share your thoughts and stay involved.
    

8. Conduct and Respect
   Comments should be respectful and focus on issues rather than personal attacks or criticisms. Personnel matters should be directed first to a principal, the assistant superintendent, the superintendent, and finally in writing to the Board. The Board reserves the right to mute individuals, ask them to step away from the table/podium,  have them removed from the room or similar depending on the severity of inappropriate behavior.
