St. Louis Park Public Schools is pleased to announce that Rachel Hicks, APR, will join the District beginning Monday, August 8, as Interim Director of Communications for the 2022-23 school year. Hicks has led strategic communications for Minnesota’s urban and suburban school districts for the past 15 years including Rochester Public Schools, Minneapolis Public Schools, and most recently Intermediate District 287.
Prior to public education, she worked for the Minnesota Senate and was a key leader in community-based initiatives to reduce tobacco use in Minnesota’s Latino population at CLUES. She earned her Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) in 2020 and is a board member of both the Minnesota School Public Relations Association and Cultural Jambalaya. Hicks is a member of Good Trouble PR and has a passion for uplifting voices of racially, culturally, and linguistically diverse populations.
“Rachel is a proven school public relations and communications leader in the state of Minnesota. Her professional experience has positioned her well to support St. Louis Park Public Schools in providing effective internal and external communication,” Superintendent Astein Osei said. “I am excited to welcome Rachel to our team and I believe she will contribute to the implementation and communication of our strategic plan.”
