Dr. Quennel Cooper will join St. Louis Park Public Schools as the new assistant superintendent. He joins SLP with more than 13 years in public education, and has experience as a fourth grade teacher and principal. Most recently, he held the principal position at Prairie View Elementary in Eden Prairie Schools. We are excited to welcome him to our school community in this important role!
Dr. Cooper is grounded in strong values that align with the direction of the district. He shared, “I firmly believe in empowering educators and staff to reach their full potential, knowing that strong leadership at every level directly impacts student success.”
What will the assistant superintendent for St. Louis Park Public Schools do?
Though the superintendent may be responsible for managing the school district, they alone cannot directly oversee all aspects of student achievement, staff training and development, financial management, and community engagement.
The assistant superintendent provides support by:
- Directly overseeing principals,
- Coordinating leadership support and development through the Instruction and Learning department, and
- Ensuring state standards and curriculum are being taught, providing each student the best opportunity to succeed.
“I am excited for Dr. Cooper to join our team,” said Dr. Carlondrea Hines. “His wealth of knowledge in educational practices will ensure each learner has every opportunity to excel and will add value to the learning experiences of students, staff and families.”
Dr. Cooper is a dedicated, lifelong learner. He earned his Doctorate of Educational Leadership from Minnesota State University, Mankato. He also holds a Specialist Degree K-12 Administration License, Master of Educational Leadership, and an undergraduate degree in elementary education.
Please give a warm welcome to Dr. Cooper! He will start in St. Louis Park Public Schools on July 1, 2025
