St. Louis Park High School senior Lila Frank has been learning more about marketing in her internship with The Park Public Schools & Community Foundation. Stepping into the world of social media, Lila Frank is supporting the foundation’s work by crafting excellent social media content to inform the community and inspire others to donate.
Her work is supporting The Park Public Schools & Community Foundation, which is a volunteer organization devoted to providing grants for projects in St. Louis Park Public Schools and to nonprofit groups serving youth in the city. This year, the foundation has granted $41,706 for teachers. Some of these grants go towards the creation of gardens, the installation of hammocks and the development of extracurricular activities that engage students on deeper levels.
As the new Marketing Intern Lila Frank, senior at St. Louis Park High School, puts it, “we all have ties to the foundation without even knowing it.”
She remembers the grant as an impactful part of her school experience.
“One of the grants was for a field trip to the REM5 VR Lab in 8th grade, and it was so cool. They fund the PSI garden, the StORIOLE student-led store,” said Lila. “This is perfect for me – I love visuals, design and marketing.”
Lila got her start in marketing working for The Echo, the student-led newspaper. She always wondered why The Echo didn’t have a social media account, so she pestered her teacher, Mr. Wilkes, to make a position for her.
“There was no position for social media and that really bothered me, because I know we have so much potential. So I requested for my own position to be made,” said Lila. “Mr. Wilkes took a chance on me and he’s proud of what I’ve accomplished.”
Besides getting the opportunity to gain professional experience, Lila does what she loves by creating visual art for a good cause.
