Progress Toward World’s Best Workforce Goals
What is World’s Best Workforce?
The World's Best Workforce (WBWF) was developed in 2013 to ensure that school districts enhance student achievement through teaching and learning supports. School boards that govern districts are required to develop comprehensive, long-term strategic plans that address the following four WBWF goals:
-
All children are ready for school.
-
All racial and economic achievement gaps between students are closed.
-
All students are ready for career and college.
-
All students graduate from high school.
St. Louis Park Public Schools remains committed to the World’s Best Workforce goals. While some of this year’s targets were not met, meaningful progress has been made, and the district continues to take strategic steps to support student success.
1. All students will be ready for school
2023-24 Early Reading Fastbridge Fall to Spring
Preparing students for kindergarten is a key priority. The district set a goal to increase the percentage of kindergarten students scoring “low risk” on the Early Reading Fastbridge assessment by 2% from Fall 2023 to Spring 2024. Aquila Elementary School accomplished this goal. Though Park Spanish Immersion, Peter Hobart and Susan Lindgren fell short, significant progress has been made when compared to previous years.
2022-23 Early Reading Fastbridge Fall to Spring
In 2022-23, Peter Hobart had a 19% difference. This year, the difference was reduced to 4%. Park Spanish Immersion had similar outcomes in both years. Susan Lindgren started the year with more students in “low risk,” but had a greater overall difference.
2. Close the achievement gap between student groups
The district remains committed to ensuring equitable academic outcomes for all students. While the goal was to narrow the reading and math opportunity gap between Black and White students by 2%, the latest data shows that the gap widened by 1%. This highlights the urgency of the work and the need for continued, targeted efforts.
To address these disparities, the district is strengthening MTSS Tier 1 interventions, expanding culturally responsive teaching practices, and increasing student support services. SLP Schools continues to actively analyze what’s working and where directional changes are needed to ensure that each student has the resources and opportunities to succeed. The district is committed to providing a high-quality education that meets students needs.
3. All students are ready for career and college
3. All students are ready for career and college
To ensure students are prepared for post-secondary success, the district set a goal of increasing ACT composite scores by 2% (+0.41 points) for all 11th-grade students. While this specific target was not met, SLP students continued to demonstrate strong academic preparation, outperforming the state average (20.7). This reflects both the dedication of students and the support they receive from educators.
Moving forward, the district remains focused on strengthening college and career readiness by expanding access to rigorous coursework, enhancing test preparation resources, and providing targeted academic support to help each student reach their post-secondary goals.
4. All students will graduate
4. All students will graduate
Although the district aimed to increase the graduation rate by 1%, this goal was not met. The graduation rate increased by .4%. SLP HS has a 4-year graduation rate of 87.1%, and the overall graduation rate demonstrates the district’s ongoing commitment to student success.
Looking Ahead
St. Louis Park Public Schools continues to analyze data and refine strategies to better support students. The district is focused on expanding personalized learning, enhancing support for historically marginalized students, and strengthening partnerships with families and the community to ensure every student has the resources and opportunities needed to succeed.
As the district moves forward, it remains dedicated to its vision of creating a more inclusive and equitable learning environment, ensuring that all students graduate ready for the next stage of their academic and professional journeys.
