Mr. Alexander Polk is a high school science teacher who genuinely cares about his students and works hard to support their success. His commitment to both education and the community makes him a valued and respected presence in St. Louis Park.
Mr. Polk is a chemistry teacher who brings energy and encouragement to everything he does. Instead of only teaching lessons, his students get to experience science for themselves during labs. Mr. Polk also dedicates time to ask and answer questions to make sure everyone fully understands what he is teaching.
Whether he’s in the classroom or coaching multiple sports, his focus is always on student growth. “I love to see the growth that students are able to develop throughout the course of a semester, a school year, or even their high school careers,” he says.
His path to education began when he helped coach his former high school football team during college. This experience sparked his interest in teaching and the impact of the school system. Since then, he’s become an advocate for both learning and community.
One of his favorite traditions is the school’s wall painting, which he sees as a fun, visible way to bring people together.
When asked what advice he’d give students, he replied, “Trust yourself and ask questions… Take a deep breath. Trust yourself. You are loved.”
For Mr. Polk, it’s the small moments like a student recognizing their own growth or leaving a thank-you note that make the job worthwhile. His presence is a reminder that care and encouragement go a long way.
Thank you Mr. Polk, for being a consistent source of inspiration for your students. Your impact reaches far beyond the classroom, and we’re lucky to have you.
