As the St. Louis Park Public Schools School Board embarks on the search for the next superintendent, they are committed to ensuring that the entire community has opportunities to be involved in the process. They thank all those who participated in the stakeholder survey. The school board was pleased with the number of responses, as it shows the strong community interest in the next school leader. Community input will continue to be invaluable to the school board as they strive to select the best candidate to lead St. Louis Park Public Schools.
Save the Date! There are two key opportunities for the community to engage and all are encouraged to participate in one or both, whenever able: Attend and provide online feedback at the Community Q&A with Finalists on March 2 and the Finalist Interviews on March 13. More information about each opportunity is below.
Community Q&A with Finalists - March 2, 2024
Scheduled for March 2, 2024, from 1-5 pm at Central Community Center (3600 Walker St.) this event is open to the public, live streamed on Youtube, and recorded to view at a later time. Enter through door 22 (closest to Wooddale Ave.). Each of the finalists will have a one-hour Q&A session, during which community members can submit questions and listen to the finalist’s responses. More details on how to submit questions will be shared after the school board discusses the remaining details for the hiring process at our Feb. 21 meeting.
If you are unable to attend in person, you can watch it live or view the recording on Youtube and submit your online community feedback through Friday, March 8, at 5 pm.
Finalist Interviews with School Board - March 13, 2024
Taking place on March 13, 2024, from 3:30-7:30 pm at Central Community Center (3600 Walker St.), this event is also open to the public, live-streamed on Youtube, and recorded. Enter through door 22.
Your input: Anyone can submit online community feedback about each candidate after the March 2 Community Q&A (by March 8, 5pm) and the March 13 Finalist Interviews (within 15 minutes of the last interview, as the school board must review the community online feedback prior to their deliberation that evening). A link to the online community feedback form will be posted to the SLP website in advance and a QR code will be shared in the meeting room. Hard copies can also be submitted to district staff who will add feedback from the March 2 Community Q&A to the online form on your behalf.
Additionally, the school board has invited stakeholder representatives from 29 groups to attend the finalist interviews on March 13, observe, and provide input on each candidate’s interview using the same rubric as the school board. These efforts are being coordinated with liaisons for each group. Learn more about the process for selecting representatives from a diverse group of stakeholders.
Overflow: Should a large number of people attend in person we will have overflow space available where community members can watch the live stream. Bring your device to submit community online feedback, or use a district-provided device at the meetings.
School board’s role: The school board is the hiring authority and makes the final decision on the lone finalist the evening of March 13, 2024. School board members will use multiple data points and sources of information, such as application materials, references, initial interviews, community online feedback from Community Q&A sessions and Finalist Interviews, stakeholder representative input, and recommendations from MSBA, to evaluate candidates.
We encourage you to participate in these events, either in person or virtually, and to provide your valuable feedback on the candidates. We also ask for your help to share this invitation with others in the St. Louis Park community. Your voices matter, and we want to ensure that they are heard throughout this process.
As our superintendent search efforts proceed, please visit the SLP superintendent search website for real-time updates. Thank you for your continued involvement in the important process of bringing the best candidate to St. Louis Park Public Schools.
