Two More High School Students Join Rep. Ilhan Omar’s Youth Advisory Council

We’re excited to announce that in addition to high school junior Otoha Masaki, sophomore Hannah Levitt and junior Landon Goelz were also recently invited to join U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar’s Youth Advisory Council. Through this experience, they will engage in civic action, develop leadership skills, and gain understanding of the legislative process – all while shaping policies that affect young people across Minnesota.

Hannah shared that she joined the council “to make an important impact on not only my community, but also the country.” Passionate about education equity, she’s particularly focused on increasing access to learning opportunities both before and after the traditional K-12 experience. Hannah is eager to bring forward local issues and collaborate with her peers from across the country. After graduation, she plans to study politics.

Landon sees his appointment as an opportunity to drive positive change. “I wanted to join the Youth Advisory Council as an opportunity to affect improvements in our community,” he said. His top concerns include youth achievement and ensuring a high-quality educational experience for all students. Landon is excited to connect with other student leaders and work collectively toward shared goals. After high school, he plans to pursue a career as a pilot.

Hannah, Landon and Otoha all bring unique perspectives and goals to the council and are excited to make their voices heard. Congratulations to all on this prestigious opportunity!
