St. Louis Park Public Schools is pleased to share that the 2025-26 Calendar at a Glance is now available for families. This year, the district brought together a Calendar Committee to carefully review key dates, recognitions, and holidays. The committee included district staff, principals, teachers, community members, and multiple representatives from racial and faith-based communities.
As part of their discussions, the committee considered state requirements, including:
- The earliest possible start date for the school year
- The required number of instructional days and hours for students
- Recognized state and federal holidays
- Prominent Jewish and Muslim religious holidays and celebrations
- Professional development and planning time for staff
In an effort to recognize key religious holidays, the committee considered multiple options. Ultimately, the decision was made to designate one Jewish and one Muslim holiday as non-school days, while the second Jewish and Muslim holiday will be a "district-recognized holiday" with school in session. On these days, students will have opportunities to learn about the significance of the celebrations, teachers will be encouraged to avoid scheduling tests and assignments, and families may excuse their student from school as needed.
We appreciate the committee’s thoughtful work in shaping a calendar that reflects the diversity and needs of our school community. Families can access the 2025-26 Calendar at a Glance on the district website at slpschools.org/calendar. Hard copies will also be available upon request at your child’s school office.
Thank you for your continued support in fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment for all students.
