Wrapping up the 2024-2025 Principals Advisory CouncilĀ

This story was written by Spring/Summer 2025 Communications Intern Jillian Dixon

The Principals Advisory Council (PAC) is a small group of students that meets with Principal LaNisha Paddock once a month to discuss school-wide issues. They discuss improvements that are wanted and issues that are happening at the district-level. The group generally gives Principal Paddock a better sense of what the student body is feeling.

This group is important to the health of the school because of the direct line of communication to Principal Paddock to be able to ask questions and ask for improvements to the school. This year they have talked about issues like how to improve the course catalog, school-wide data regarding our students demographics and where they are seeing patterns in that data, and feedback on the implementation of the Continuous Improvement Plan (CIP) goals that were finalized before the year started. The Youth Data Analysts (YDA) also had input on the goals.

The YDA internship consists of a summer internship spending time reading many articles, books, and stories related to any sort of topic in education. The program is funded by Carlton Collage and a grant to help pay the interns. If any students want to get involved with PAC, they will need to go through the Youth Data Analyst (YDA) internship with the district first.

In the coming year, PAC and the new YDA students of 2025 are hoping to meet and bond together over the summer before working together in the school year. They also plan to have more consistent meetings, more communication between the students, staff and Principal Paddock and  information and communication sessions. The group wishes to actively create change for the better within St. Louis Park High School becoming One St. Louis Park.
