The start of the 2021-22 school year has been a challenge for everyone as the global COVID pandemic continues. Students and families, teachers and staff have been working hard to return to in-person learning.

For the mental and physical health and wellbeing of all, the School Board unanimously approved a calendar modification adding two days to winter break in order for everyone to re-energize. Winter break has been extended to a full two weeks and now includes Dec. 20 and Dec. 21 as no school days. School will resume on Monday, Jan. 3 as originally planned.

This change may cause additional childcare needs for families. Kids Place childcare will be open on Dec. 20 and Dec. 21. Childcare staff will receive incentive pay to work those days.

If the school district experiences severe weather yet this school year, students, families, teachers and staff can expect distance learning days.

Thank you for your flexibility with these calendar changes. Having some extra time to re-energize will allow everyone to have a strong start to the second half of the school year.
