Math Team

  • The purpose of the senior high math team is to bring students together who enjoy solving creative and challenging math problems as well as having fun. We compete in the Minnesota High School Mathematics League as a member of the Southwest Suburban Conference. Our success as a team is measured by the pleasure derived from participation, learning new mathematics and mathematical strategies, as well as our placement in the league.

Math team practice is every Monday during the season in Room A202J (Learning Lab) after school (3:15-4:15 pm). We would love for you to make the Monday practices (free popcorn). You should bring your graphing calculator. We solve and discuss problems during practices.

You may ask…What if I can't make Monday practices afterschool?
We do want mathletes to practice at least once a week. However, we know that many of you have multiple activities that make it difficult to come Mondays after school. So we have a math team Moodle site. If you miss the practice on Monday, then we would like for you to work online through Moodle. Mrs. Johnson will be online on Wednesday nights from 9-10pm to hold forums, chats and generally be available to answer questions.

We would love to have you join us! If you have any questions please feel free to email Mrs. Johnson (johnson.kristin@slpschools.org) or Mr. Tanberg (tanberg.william@slpschools.org) or stop by C373 to chat with Mrs. Johnson or A202J to chat with Mr. Tanberg. Mr. Tanberg will have the practice sheets in A202J.
