Welcome New Residents! We can't wait to meet you!ISD #283 St. Louis Park Public Schools has a long and successful history we are proud to share. If you have moved to our community, to ensure that you receive information about early childhood screenings and kindergarten registration at the appropriate time, please email our District Enrollment Center at email@example.com or call 952-928-6000.Registration Information for All Students
No shots, no school. Minnesota Statutes Section 121A.15 requires children enrolled in a Minnesota school to be immunized against certain diseases, allowing for specified exceptions. If your student should not have immunizations for medical reasons or because of your conscientious beliefs, you will need to provide legal documentation of exemption. Contact the school health office for information and the appropriate form. This form is designed to provide the school with information required by the law. Students not in compliance—i.e., their immunization information is not up-to-date—will be excluded from school.
You will be asked to provide a record of your child's shots at Kindergarten Roundup or with your child’s registration. All children entering kindergarten must have a varicella (chickenpox) vaccine (or a history of having chickenpox) and a second dose of vaccine for measles, mumps and rubella.
Free health checkups, sports physicals, acute visits and immunizations are available for St. Louis Park residents or students between the ages of birth through 12th grade at Central Clinic located in our Central Community Center. Central Clinic also sees students who attend Hopkins Public Schools or live in Hopkins. In order to receive immunizations at our clinic, you must either have no insurance, or insurance through the state of Minnesota. The Clinic is open Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 1-4:30 p.m. We encourage people to be here by 4 p.m. at the latest though so they have enough time with the doctor. We only take walk-ins. If your child should not have immunizations for medical reasons or because of the conscientiously held beliefs of the parents, the school must have written proof of exemption.
Early Childhood Screening
This is an evaluation to check the health and development of your child, so concerns may be addressed early. This enables your child to be ready to be a better learner in kindergarten. It is a free service for children ages 3½ to 5 years old and is required for entrance into kindergarten. Screening is held September to early May at Central Community Center. If your child has not been screened, call 952-928-6726 to schedule an appointment.
Non-residents of the St. Louis Park Public Schools can apply for Open Enrollment through the state of Minnesota's Enrollment Options Program. For further information about open enrollment or to obtain an application please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 952-928-6023.Equity Options Busing Program
Until 2012, the Minnesota Department of Education sponsored The Choice is Yours (TCIY) program - a school choice program for families that qualified for free or reduced-priced lunches and lived within the Minneapolis Public Schools attendance boundaries. This open enrollment program offered low-income families from Minneapolis more options to attend schools in outlying suburbs. From the beginning, St Louis Park Public Schools voluntarily participated in this program.
When the TCIY program ended in 2012, St Louis Park Public Schools chose to continue its Minneapolis busing program to provide eligible students access to the district’s quality education options. In 2018, the program was renamed “Equity Options Busing Program”.
To participate in the Equity Options Busing Program, students must meet two criteria:
- The student and parent/guardian must live within the Minneapolis Public Schools attendance boundaries.
- The student must qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.
If both criteria are met, the student is eligible for the Equity Options Busing Program. This open enrollment busing program provides transportation to and from school. If you are unsure of your child's eligibility for free or reduced-price lunch, please visit School Nutrition on our web site at www.slpschools.org.
