When: Thursday, June 6 | 7:30 p.m.
Where: High School Stadium (outdoors) | High School Gymnasium (if inclement weather)
St. Louis Park High School will celebrate the Class of 2019 when it holds its 120th commencement exercises at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, June 6, at the St. Louis Park Stadium.
Approximately 357 graduates will receive their diplomas at the ceremony. Commencement speakers will include Student Council Presidents Cailey Hansen-Mahoney and Alexis Machoka as well as Valedictorians Cyrus Abrahamson, Yonit Krebs, Alexis Lee, Greta Long, Maria Olivia Mosby, Ilsa Olsen, Danielle Orloff, Jack Ostrovsky, Cecelia Schmelzle, Emma Kempf, and Halle Weinmann.
Ethan Hoeschen, a member of the Class of 2019, will present this year’s Alumni Award to Mark Rosen ‘70. Rosen spent nearly 50 years at WCCO Television, mostly as the station's sports anchor. Rosen began working at WCCO as an unpaid intern during his junior year at St. Louis Park High School. During his senior year of high school, he was allowed to produce the station's year-end sports wrap-up. WCCO hired Rosen full-time when he was attending the University of Minnesota as an undergrad, and he never left. Rosen retired from WCCO in January of 2019 but continues to be a frequent voice on KFAN Radio, the sports talk station on 100.3 FM. Rosen was inducted into the Minnesota Broadcasting Hall of Fame in 2013.
If inclement weather forces the ceremony to be moved indoors, it will be held in the High School Gymnasium. If the ceremony is held indoors, each student will receive six tickets for the gymnasium and four tickets for the overflow viewing area in the auditorium. If the ceremony is held outdoors, no ticket is required.
