St. Louis Park Public Schools values the voices, experiences and perspectives of students, families, staff and community members. Districtwide advisory committees provide opportunities to learn about district initiatives, offer feedback and help shape programs, policies and practices that support each student.

Application Information

Interested participants may rank up to three committee choices. Committee membership is based on each committee’s membership structure, available openings and the district’s goal of including diverse perspectives from across the school community.

American Indian Parent Advisory Committee

The American Indian Parent Advisory Committee, or AIPAC, advises the district and helps ensure that American Indian students receive culturally relevant and equitable educational opportunities.

Districts with 10 or more American Indian students are required to have an advisory committee composed primarily of parents or guardians of American Indian students enrolled in the district.

Who serves:

Parents and guardians of students participating in American Indian education
American Indian secondary students, typically in grades 9–12
Extended family members, including grandparents, adult siblings and foster parents
Adult American Indian community members and tribal representatives
American Indian educators, counselors, paraprofessionals, language staff and culture staff

Cardiac Emergency Response Committee

The Cardiac Emergency Response Committee strengthens the district’s Cardiac Emergency Response Plan and Team and develops an actionable, well-resourced implementation plan aligned with 2026–27 requirements.

Communications Advisory Committee

The Communications Advisory Committee brings together families, students, staff and community members to help strengthen communication across St. Louis Park Public Schools. Members provide feedback on district communication practices, tools and priorities; identify opportunities to make information clearer, more accessible and inclusive; and help ensure district communications reflect the needs and perspectives of the communities we serve.

Community Education Advisory Council

The Community Education Advisory Council makes recommendations regarding Community Education policies, programs and budgets. Its membership represents a cross-section of the St. Louis Park community.

Digital Learning Advisory Committee

The Digital Learning Advisory Committee brings together diverse voices to help ensure that technology and artificial intelligence are used intentionally, responsibly, equitably and in ways that enhance learning.

The committee:

Advises the district on responsible, equitable and innovative uses of technology and AI.
Considers how digital tools help students explore, investigate, create, communicate, collaborate and contribute.
Brings together perspectives from students, caregivers, educators, administrators and community members.
Explores opportunities and challenges related to technology and AI.
Promotes privacy, security, accessibility, academic integrity, digital citizenship and belonging.
Elevates community voice and keeps each student at the center of technology decisions.

Finance Advisory Committee

The Finance Advisory Committee advises district administration and the School Board on economic and school finance issues while helping build community understanding and trust in district finances.

Learning & Innovation Program Advisory Committee

The Learning & Innovation Program Advisory Committee supports the development of curricular and instructional programs that promote racially equitable learning experiences for each student.

The committee:

Brings together academic interests that support student achievement across the district.
Advises the superintendent on curricular and instructional programs.
Reviews and provides feedback on district policies, practices, procedures and programs that affect curriculum and instruction.
Gathers perspectives from students and families and helps communicate the work of district Program Design Teams.

Special Education Advisory Council

The Special Education Advisory Council, or SEAC, brings together parents, caregivers, educators and community members to support and improve special education programs and services throughout the district.

Who serves:

District special education representative
Parents and caregivers of children with disabilities attending district schools
At least one parent or caregiver of a child with a disability who is not employed by the district
Community members
Parents or caregivers of nonpublic school students receiving services from the district

In order to increase the involvement of parents of children with disabilities in district policy making and decision making, St. Louis Park Public Schools maintains a Special Education Advisory Council (SEAC) consistent with Minnesota Statutes, section 125A.24.

The SEAC is individually established by the district and is not a subgroup of another board, council, or committee.
The SEAC meets at least quarterly during the school year.
At least half of the SEAC’s members are parents of students with disabilities.
Membership is open. Families of students receiving special education services are invited to join, and invitations and meeting notices are sent by email to interested families. Meeting agendas are posted on the district website in advance of each meeting.
Because nonpublic schools are located within district boundaries, the council includes at least one member who is a parent of a nonpublic school student with a disability, or an employee of a nonpublic school if no such parent is available to serve. Recruitment efforts and the basis for any employee appointment are documented.
The SEAC provides input on special education programming, the Total Special Education System plan, program evaluation data, restrictive procedures data summaries, family engagement, and budget priorities, and makes recommendations to district special education leadership.

Superintendent’s Advisory Committee

The Superintendent’s Advisory Committee brings together students, families, staff and community members who reflect the district’s student demographics. Members advise the superintendent on student experiences and help ensure that district decisions respond to stakeholder needs and current educational research.

Wellness Advisory Committee

The Wellness Advisory Committee advises district administration on implementation of the district’s Wellness Policy in compliance with USDA guidelines. The committee helps build community trust in the district’s efforts to create school environments that promote student health, well-being and learning.
