Echo Receives Several Awards at National High School Journalism Conference

Echo, the student-run newspaper at St. Louis Park High School, has received a National Newspaper Pacemaker Award for the publication's 2017-18 print editions. Student-journalists and Echo Advisor Lori Keekley received the award at the National High School Journalism Convention in Chicago, Nov. 1-4.

The National Newspaper Pacemaker is the highest award given out by the National Scholastic Press Association. This is the fifth National Newspaper Pacemaker Award that Echo has received, and its first since 2015.

In addition to the Pacemaker Award, students placed in several on-site contests during the Chicago convention. Echo won Best of Show in both the Newspaper Tabloid (16 or fewer pages) category and the Website Small School category.

Alumna Devin Raynor '18 won an Honorable Mention award in the NSPA's Design of the Year Award. Current senior and Managing Editor Sam St. Clair won an Honorable Mention award in the on-site Write Off contest for her News Design.
