School Board Reviewing 2019-20 and 2020-21 Calendars

At the December 10, 2018, School Board Meeting, District Administration presented updated calendar options for the 2019-20 school year and preliminary draft calendars for the 2020-21 school year for consideration. The School Board will likely take action on both calendars at a board meeting in January.
 
Highlights of the Two Revised 2019-20 Calendars:
  • Both recommend starting after Labor Day
  • Both recommend two-day Education Minnesota/MEA Break in October
  • Option 1 maintains No School the day before Thanksgiving and the other does not
  • Option 1 proposes an 8-day Winter Break and Option 2 proposes a full 10-days
  • Both recommend a full week for Spring Break
  • Both recommend that the school year ends June 5
 
Highlights of the 2020-21 Preliminary Draft Calendars:
  • Both recommend starting after Labor Day
  • Option 1 recommends two-day Education Minnesota/MEA Break in October
  • Option 2 recommends no Education Minnesota/MEA Break in October
  • Both options have students in-session the day before Thanksgiving
  • Option 1 proposes a 10-day Winter Break and Option 2 proposes a 7-day break
  • Both recommend a full week for Spring Break
  • Option 1 recommends that the school year ends June 9
  • Option 2 recommends that the school year ends June 4
