Middle School Quiz Bowl Team Qualifies for National Tournament
A team of eighth graders from St. Louis Park Middle School has qualified for the Middle School National Championship Tournament – the premier middle school event held by National Academic Quiz Tournaments (NAQT).
Students Axel Abrahamson, Ryan DuSaire, Finn Gidden and Rose Huse qualified for the national tournament based on their performance at the DeLaSalle Invitational Academic Tournament of Middle Schools on March 16.
“These eighth grade students represented St. Louis Park in an outstanding way,” said Quiz Bowl Advisor Lisa Lillie. “They are very kind and encouraging to one another as well as great sports with the other teams.”
This year’s Middle School National Championship Tournament will be held at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare in Rosemont, Illinois on May 10-12. Last year, 192 teams from around the country attended the tournament.
In addition to the team of eighth graders qualifying for the national tournament, several individuals performed well at the March 16 DeLaSalle Invitational.
In the eighth grade division, Rose Huse placed 19th out of 119 competitors. In the seventh grade division, sixth grader Jason Kraft placed fourth, seventh grader Tommy Walsh placed fifth and seventh grader James Dwyer placed tenth out of 55 competitors.
