The National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA) selected the St. Louis Park High School Newspaper the Echo's website as one of 18 National Online Pacemakers. This is the highest award NSPA gives.
According to NSPA, the competition judges selected 44 finalists and then narrowed those finalists to the 18 National Online Pacemaker recipients.
Entries for the Online Pacemaker contest are judged by groups of professionals along various criteria, according to NSPA.
According to NSPA's website, entries are judged by teams of professionals based on the following criteria: coverage and content, quality of writing and reporting, leadership, design, photography and graphics.
Echo has previously won the 2018 National Online Pacemaker and was a finalist in 2014 and 2017. NSPA also awards the National Print Pacemaker, which Echo won in 2010, 2013, 2014 and 2015.
